What a climate ceiling is
A climate ceiling uses the ceiling plane to heat and cool the room. Instead of radiators on the wall or a split unit blowing air at your neck, the conditioning happens above you, spread across the largest free surface of the room — which is exactly why the result feels so even.
Combined with a stretch ceiling, the technology disappears completely: the membrane forms the visible surface, and the climate components live in the plenum behind it.
How it works behind the membrane
Warm air rises; the ceiling is where the room’s heat naturally collects. The system exploits that: air circulates quietly through the plenum between the structural slab and the membrane, entering and leaving through profiles with integrated openings. The membrane surface itself tempers the room by convection and radiation — inductive heating and cooling without visible grilles.
Because the exchange surface is enormous compared to a radiator, the system runs at gentle temperatures and low air speeds. In practice that means a uniform room temperature, no draughts, and operation you can barely hear.
What it means for energy use
Large-surface, low-temperature systems work efficiently with modern heat pumps, and the even distribution lets you set the thermostat lower for the same comfort. Depending on the building, that translates into roughly five to ten percent less energy use compared to conventional convection heating.
