The short answer
A PVC or polyester stretch ceiling is washable. The membrane is a closed surface that does not absorb dirt the way paint or plaster does, so everyday marks stay on top — where you can remove them.
That makes stretch ceilings the practical choice for kitchens, bathrooms and commercial spaces, where a painted ceiling would need repainting every few years.
How to clean it safely
Use warm water, a soft sponge or microfibre cloth, and light pressure. Wipe in straight passes rather than circles on gloss finishes to avoid shine differences. What to avoid
